**Small Update 5/5/17As stated in my original review below, the stiff button mechanism is my sole criticism of this mug. This morning, however, I noticed that while drinking coffee with dairy creamer in it, the button operates perfectly smooth. I figure that the cream reduces the friction of the mechanism, like grease on an axel. I typically drink black coffee, and I suppose the acidity eventually leads to increased friction with the plastic. But if you're someone who uses creamer often, you may not have an issue with the button.**Original Review 4-21-17Bought this travel mug to replace my trusty Thermos mug. The old mug was all plastic, which had been affecting the coffee flavor a lot more lately, not to mention it was annoyingly leak prone. This Stanley mug certainly improves in those categories. With my old plastic mug, I'd be at work by 8 and any coffee left undrunk by 10 would be stone cold (I always seemeed to forget this, absentmindedly drink it, and nearly spit it out). With this Stanley mug, my coffee has remained pleasantly warm by the time 10 rolls around, cooling only a little bit. It has also been leak proof for me so far.I'm knocking a star because of the push button mechanism. As many have noted, it can get quite stiff, and the stiffness seems to vary day to day. I've noticed I can sometimes find a sweet spot by fiddling with the screw-in component on the bottom of the lid, but it doesn't always last. There have been days when my fingers and wrist have gotten a little strained from using this mug (specifically if I decide to get an afternoon refill). Keep in mind, this mechanism is what keeps the mug leak proof, so to me it's a necessary trade-off. However, I wish the button would be consistently smooth.A small note, I drive an old Cobalt to work and this mug just baaarely doesn't fit my cupholder. However, it fits fine in my newer vechicle's, so it may just be my beater's dated design. I typically just toss this mug on the passenger seat, which has remained stain free and dry as a bone. This product has continued to amaze me from day one. I bought some of these at a wholesale outlet on a whim a few years back because they actually fit the cupholders of most cars and they were the right price. I reasoned that they would eventually fail out like so many coffee mugs do. I have been pleasantly surprised. All sizes of this product are awesome. (I find the 12 oz to be a little tiny for my liking, but to each his or her own.)These have never leaked for me. The top is easy to clean and dishwasher safe. It doesn’t get stanky or gunky if you clean it regularly. The body is durable and well textured and sized for holding. Who doesn’t love that Stanley feel? I’ve dropped these, full - on rugs, concrete, my car floor - and zero spillage. I can pick this thing up after lunch at work and my morning coffee is still nice and warm. It drinks comfortably with one hand use and doesn’t rush a hot beverage at your face in some uncontrollable flood of liquid hot magma. At the end of the day, I can literally drop my empty mug in my bag and not worry about coffee leaking everywhere. The Stanley label you see in the pic is a sticker, so I just pull them right off and I think it makes it look better, hands down. I love it.After years of ticking away good money on pricey “designer” mugs that have repeatedly failed in some respect or another, this is a standout and worth the money for me. Toss out your old mugs, invest in these. The ties and dress shirts I’ve saved just by getting these have helped them pay for themselves. I am a little bummed that Stanley has gone overseas with production, since I swore by my dad’s old Stanley thermos for years, but dollar for dollar this is a very nice purchase for the coffee lover in your life.I work in a busy warehouse and spend about 9-10 hrs a day on a forklift, coffee is a necessity. I used to make a cup of coffee in those disposable cups with the flimsy plastic lids, and every time without fail, I'd sip my coffee, get caught up in a task, and by the next sip the coffee was cold and undrinkable. With this mug I can sip my coffee over the course of a few hours if I have to and never worry about it being cold! It fits in the cup holder of the car and the cup holder in my forklift which was non-negotiable for me.The only two cons to this mug is that it doesn't fit under a Kurig (sp?), which doesn't really bother me as I just tilt the cup under the dispenser as the coffee come out. The second being, if you leave coffee in the mug for a few hours and then switch to water, you still get the taste of coffee, even after rinsing. I only notice the taste for the first few sips so again, not something that I really worry about. Most days, this mug is the only thing I drink out of all day. I fill it with coffee in the morning and water at night, and because it's leak-proof I just lay it down on my side of the bed so if I wake up thirsty in the middle of the night I dont have to reach over my girlfriend and wake her up to get a drink of water. (Not fair that she gets the side of the bed with the nightstand but thats a different story)16 oz Pros: Stays cold/hot for hours Simple one-handed use Fits in the cupholder Doesn't leak!16 oz cons: Won't fit under a Kuerig Takes a few sips to get through the coffee tasteUsed this product for about a month and the switch that operates the lead broke contacted the seller and the seller more than happy with it send it back before its next to America I threw in the bin I wouldn’t go for this product myself from the UK at least if there’s a problem you can send it back free of chargeReally disappointed with this. It lasted about 3 weeks before it fell apart. The spring-loaded button easily comes off - and when it doesn't, it leaks from that part of the mug. Another issue (my fault this time, for not checking the dimensions properly) it is too broad in its base to fit the average UK travel mug holder in cars,Great service and productThought it looked cool, retro thermos. Went by the good reviews but the label appears to be a metal plate, but is a sticker. No ergonomics, its kinda big and clunky. There were some hot spots too where it obviously wasn't insulated well, maybe the seal failed? It's not the all day long heat holding tank it appears to be. Worked ok for awhile before the button to open the valve popped off. Tried to glue it back on but didn't pan out too well. I wouldn't recommend it.Great mug, but same problem as many on here. The spring in the lid blew the button off and will not go back together. I’ve had to call Stanley and I have another lid coming, no questions asked, but after these reviews on here I expect to have the same problem with the new lid. This first one lasted only a month. Terrible design. If they made a more durable lid, this would be 5+ stars. My coffee is always hot and I love the aesthetic.
